Heated arguments over a child’s paternity used to be a regular feature of morning TV curtesy of Jeremy Kyle with parents scrapping and swearing over whether they are the biological father of the child they have brought up since birth.

When a father finds out on live TV that he is not the biological father of the child he loves, we usually witness violence, crying, shouting and swearing. Similar scenes are common off TV too as fathers are left wondering where they now stand in the child’s life.

Fathers may also wonder whether they are entitled to any of the money they have paid towards the child to be returned to them upon discovery that they are not the parent. If you have been making payments through the CSA or CMS, then you will be refunded all the payments you made after you denied your parentage. Any payments made before the denial will not be refunded.

If you have put your paternity to the test and discovered that your precious son or daughter is not actually your biological child, and you want to know what rights you have to stay in the child’s life and what financial claims you can make, then drop me a line at stephanie@kleymansolicitors.com and I’ll offer you friendly advice and explain your options to you.

I’m much more friendly than Jeremy Kyle!
