Or in this case, don’t judge a bottle by its label!!!

A few weeks ago, it was my birthday, and whilst I don’t really do much to celebrate, I did get loads of lovely messages from loads of lovely people.

I also got a few lovely gifts, including some beautiful flowers from the beautiful Rianne Scott, and a fabulous Huski wine glass from the fabulous Sarah Lambert.

If you haven’t seen Huski products, then I’d highly recommend that you check them out.  My wonderful wine glass, also keeps your drink cold (or hot!) AND has a lid, which is invaluable for those of you who are prone to spill things!  Not me – I’d never be that careless with my drink.

In addition, it’s beautifully well designed.  Mine is a beautiful rose gold colour – of course it is!

You’re wondering where this is going, aren’t you.

Fast forward a few weeks, and I’m working at home, doing an early morning Teams call with some lovely new clients and a colleague.

I’m getting a few strange looks, and I’m frantically looking at myself on the screen for anything obvious.

Did I forget to get dressed – it was early – but no, I’m perfectly decent.

Did I forget to do my hair (it’s got quite long and sometimes I put it up with a comb, which can look rather odd).  No, all good there.

Is there anything going on in the background – strange pictures, or discarded undies on the shelf behind me.  Nope.

So, I took another swill of my drink (you’re catching on now aren’t you) and decided I was being paranoid.

It was at that point that my phone pinged with a message from my colleague, asking if I thought it was a good idea to be drinking alcohol out of my wine glass that early in the morning with new clients – she specifically said “can’t you let them get to know you first before you horrify them”.

I burst out laughing and stopped the meeting to introduce everyone to my lovely new Husky wine glass. As it does hot drinks too, and has a lid, it’s perfect for sipping green tea during meetings, because it doesn’t go cold.  However, because of the rose gold finish, it’s opaque.  So, whilst from the outside it looks like a glass of wine, on the inside it was a perfectly innocent (warm!) cuppa!

Everyone laughed.

Although it was subsequently noted that at no stage did I say – “of course I’d never drink this early!”
We won the business, and the clients tell me they’ve been online looking at Huski products.

But it does go to show that you can never take anything at face value.  Even though it would have been a perfectly reasonable assumption that a vessel that looked entirely like a wine glass, would contain wine, especially when it is in my hand (at any time of the day or night) I was, in fact (and for a change) completely innocent!
